Ángel Cruz Calvo is the grandfather of Ángel Cruz Robles, and a living repository of mezcal know-how. His palenque is located only several hundred yards from that of Robles’ but in an entirely different micro climate, situated, as it is, much closer to the sacred creek that draws religious pilgrims from miles away every day. Even the vegetation is dramatically different. He and his grandson tend several family-owned plots of land, cultivating Agave americana, A. potatorum, A. seemanniana, and a few others. Both of these gentlemen are tireless workers and we are proud to offer their always-excellent ancestral agave spirits.
