Carlos Mendez lives and breathes the mezcal business. He is the son of two mezcaleros. He trained to become a pilot, but his father died unexpectedly in 2012, forcing him to pivot to the family business. He now runs the family palenques with his mother and siblings. He is our bottler, the producer of our innovative El Barro rail mezcal, full partner in our now-famous Tso’ok Rum, and–above all else–our great friend.
